Bucking the trend for an Icelandic act, four-piece group Kaleo offer a less ambient sound and are instead influenced by blues and rock music.
The all-male band made their first major debut at Iceland’s Airwaves Music Festival in late 2012, and their song Vor í Vaglaskógi quickly became a hit in their home country. Their music then went on to reach an international audience thanks to an endorsement by legends Martin Scorsese and Sir Mick Jagger no less, who used their track No Good in their HBO TV show Vinyl, and the group's songs have also featured in hit series such as Orange Is the New Black and Suits. Kaleo - consisting of JJ Julius Son, Davíð Antonsson, Daníel Ægir Kristjánsson and Rubin Pollock - released their second album A/B this year, which debuted at No 7 in the UK iTunes Charts in June.
